Paul Ceyssens, Chair
Paul is a proud parent of two “SSI Daycare” graduates, Kiera and Callum. He became a member of the board of directors in 2003, and has served as president of the Society since then. Paul is a lawyer whose practice is Canada-wide and restricted to employment law and professional regulation, particularly involving the legal regulation of policing. He has considerable experience in training and public presentations dealing with legal issues and management of risk. He served for four years as a member of the Queen Margaret’s School board of governors in Duncan. Paul is a long-distance runner, cyclist and (at least in his own mind) an amazing roadhockey goalie.
Loretta Rithaler, Vice-Chair
Loretta is mom to a daughter, Anna, aged 19 years, and a son, William, aged 12 years, both of whom attended SSI Early Learning Centre. Loretta and her family (including husband Mark) have been active parent participants and volunteers with the Society for many years, involved in fundraising, building repairs, and other support. Loretta has served as a member of the board of directors for 17 years, serving in the position of secretary (1999-2000), president (2000-2003), and vice-president of the Society since then.
Hilary Clemente, Director
Hilary Clemente has served 11 years as a director of the Gulf Islands Early Learning Society. Hilary brings a wealth of experience, both as a parent of an alumnus of the SSI Early Learning Centre and as a very experienced daycare provider. A long-time island resident, Hilary operated her own licenced family daycare for 11 years, until 2012. Hilary is a dedicated board member and enthusiastic supporter of the Early Learning Centre.
